The Hospital Auxiliary of Martinsville & Henry County Inc.Established 52 years ago, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting community wellness and education. To support its various programming and wellness initiatives, the Auxiliary raises funds through a variety of sources including a variety of sales, individual and corporate donations, as well as Forget-Me-Not Gift Shop, a full-time specialty shop located within the main lobby of Memorial Hospital. As a not-for-profit organization, all funds raised by the Auxiliary are transferred into established programs, providing patient support and assistance to those in our community lacking resources to maintain their health.
Programs currently supported by the Auxiliary include:
The Family Life Services Free Clinic, staffed by physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and others who donate their time to help meet the needs of those in our community who are medically underserved or unable to afford medication.
- Recovery Bears, including the Sir Lof A Lot Bear, are given to Memorial Hospital patients recovering from a surgical procedure or to an adolescent recently diagnosed with juvenile diabetes.
- Stuffed toys are given to children coming into the Emergency Room or having a procedure performed through Ambulatory Surgery.
- The Ministerial Association of Memorial Hospital receives donations from the Auxiliary to help meet the spiritual and emotional needs of the hospital's patients.
- The Licensed Practical Nurse Program of the Henry County educational system also receives support from the Auxiliary. Additional funding provided by the Gift Shop and other fundraising activities allows the Hospital Auxiliary to donate medication and/or medical equipment to those individuals who are unable to afford these necessities.
