Cancer Care

For over twenty five years, Ravenel Oncology Center of Memorial Hospital has provided comprehensive cancer care to thousands of patients across our region. Our program, accredited by the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer, focuses on the full spectrum of cancer care including prevention, early diagnosis, cancer staging, optimal treatment, rehabilitation, life-long follow-up for recurrent disease and end-of-life care. As one of 1500 hospital programs accredited nationwide, our patients have access to clinical trials, new treatments and patient-centered services including psycho-social support.

“A cancer diagnosis is often overwhelming; however, patients can rest assured knowing that Ravenel Oncology Center follows the same treatment protocol and guidelines as larger institutions, without the expense and hassle of traveling for frequent treatments,” said Michael Compton, Director of Oncology at Memorial Hospital.

Our unique team-based, multi-disciplinary approach from radiation oncology, medical oncology, hematology, surgery, or a combination of these, ensures optimal treatment programs tailored to the patients' specific needs. Treatment team members meet regularly to discuss each patient's case and design an appropriate treatment plan. In addition to our three oncologists and dedicated staff, Ravenel Oncology Center employs a full time social worker, who is available to assist with psychosocial and financial needs of all patients and families.
